Horrabridge Rangers U13 boys versus Woolwell FC Fillace Park 11am Saturday 5 April

Starting the game 5 places in the league behind Woolwell, Horrabridge went into the game disadvantaged by only having 10 players. A changed lineup saw them play with 3 in defence. The game started brightly and the Horrabridge put extra effort in from the start to make up for being a player down. A few early forays into the Woolwell half came to nothing when some excellent play from Woolwell put them a goal up. Rather than letting their heads drop, Horrabridge stepped up a gear and started to pass the ball around, Woolwell pushed on to get a second early goal but Horrabridge caught them on the counter attack with Josh Broughton slotting home after a one on one with the keeper. With parity returned the frst have continued in a fairly even fashion with both defenses playing well. Just before half time Woolwell got a chance when the Horrabridge keeper slid outside the 18yrd box to catch the ball and gave away a free kick. Most boys were expecting a cross but Woolwell went straight for goal and all the Horrabridge keeper Chris Argles could do is parry the ball into the net. Woolwell went in 2-1 up and looked confident that they would improve in the second half to kill the game off. When they returned to the pitch, they changed formation in order to put more pressure on the 3 defenders. After the kick off the Horrabridge had to weather some headdy pressure but with only the 3 at the back found it easier to play the offside trap. Some telling tackles from the defenders Jon Brimble, Conor Phelan and Samual Lloyd meant that the Woolwell attack were often frutrated. When Woolwell did get through, they found a keeper on top form making some telling saves. After weathering the early storm, Horrabridge counter attacked and again Broughton found himself with only the keeper to beat, seeing him advancing off his line, he chiped the ball over the keepers head and into the back of the net to equalise with a sublime effort. Woolwell started to tire and the Horrabrige midfield started to win more balls and make the more incisive moves finally setting up Josh for his hatrick. The more Woolwell pushed the more space Horrabridge found in behind their defence and rather than Woolwell getting another goal, Horrabridge scored 2 more one by Max Burgess and the final goal put away by Will Hall. Man of the Match was awarded to Chris Argles in the Horrabridge goal but all the team played at 110%.

The win sees Horrabridge climb 2 places to 9th.
